Learn the pipes or drums

We teach beginners from the very first note. No experience, and no instrument, required to start.

Enquire about lessons
Nobody arrives able to play. Every piper in this band started on a practice chanter, and every drummer started on a pad. If you can keep time and turn up regularly, we can teach you the rest. Lessons are open to adults and to young people with a parent or guardian's consent. There is no charge to come along and find out whether it suits you.

How it works

    Get in touch

    Fill in the form below and tell us whether the pipes or the drums appeal to you. If you are not sure, say so — we will help you decide.

    Come to a practice

    Visit us on a practice night and see the band at work. There is no obligation and nothing to pay.

  3. 3

    Start on the chanter or pad

    Pipers begin on a practice chanter and drummers on a practice pad. Both are inexpensive, and we will point you at the right one.

  4. 4

    Join the band

    Once you can hold your part you will be brought into the band proper, fitted for uniform and added to the performance roster.
